Jessie J finally dethrones chart queen Taylor Swift
With a growing support from pop radio stations and a consistent number 1 ranking in downloading services, Jessie J's "Flashlight" finally claimed the #1 spot in the Philippines Top 40 chart, for week ending July 7, 2015.
Jessie ended Taylor's 3-week reign with "Bad Blood" as it descended to number 2 this week. Philippine TV sweetheart Kim Chui, meanwhile continued her winning streak as the most played and listened to OPM act as her "Mr. Right" claimed it's 9th week supremacy among Filipino songs. In the over-all chart, the song moved up one spot 4-3.
Another winning OPM artist for the week is The Voice Kids alumni Juan Karlos Labajo, who has the biggest debut track with "Para Sa'yo", which entered the upper half of the chart at #19. The other new entry is from The Weeknd with "Can't Feel My Face", making a debut at #32.
Juan Karlos joins fellow OPM artists Darren Espanto and Nadine Lustre in the circle of artists with 2 or more tracks in the chart. Charlie Puth is the only international act with 2 songs in the top 40.
Speaking of Espanto, his new single "Stuck" is the week's biggest jumper" as it moved 13 places up from #24 to #11. Other big jumpers, include OMI's "Cheerleader" (29 to 20) and Owl City's "Verge" (26 to 18).
We have the same songs occupying the top 10 slots this week from previous week, with 5 of them moving up, 4 dropping and 1 song still stuck at the same spot. Here's the list of the Top 10 songs this week:
1 - Jessie J – Flashlight
2 - Taylor Swift – Bad Blood
3 - Kim Chiu – Mr. Right
4 - Silento – Watch Me
5 - Wiz Khalifa feat Charlie Puth – See You Again
6 - Brandon Beal feat Christopher – Twerk It Like Miley
7 - Little Mix – Black Magic
8 - One Direction – No Control
9 - Ed Sheeran – Photograph
10 - Daryl Ong – Ikaw Na Nga
Biggest drops were experienced this week by Jason DeRulo, Fifth Harmony and Jadine as their songs moved down to the bottom half of the Top 40. Jason's " Want you to want me" now ranked 31 (from 21), Fifth Harmony's "Worth It", ranked 21 (from 13) and James Reid and Nadine Lustre's "Hanap-hanap", now at #30 (previously at 22).
Meanwhile, Yeng Constantino's 2014 #1 hit "Ikaw" returns to the chart at #37. This new development officially dislodged Darren's "In Love Ako Sayo" as the longest running track in the chart. Darren's track has already spent it's 32nd week, while Yeng's return has extended her chart run to a 34th week, which makes it the song with the most weeks in the chart for this period.

Jessie J fails to topple Taylor Swift on top of Philippine Charts
It was a tough battle to number one, as Jessie J's "Flashlight" climb up to #2 and reached the top 3 positions in more than 13 charts in the Philippines for week ending June 30, 2015.
However, this wasn't enough as Taylor Swift's more than 10 chart-topping positions plus her inclusion in more than 27 charts secured her 3rd straight week at #1. Jessie J on the other hand only manage to enter in 24 charts out of the more than 40 available chart shows.
Jessie J leads the pop radio format and digital downloads charts, while Taylor Swift sweep the Hot Top 40 radio audience.
Apart from Taylor who's a non-mover at no.1, 5 other songs managed to occupy their same post from previous week, this include: One Direction – No Control (#7), Fifth Harmony feat Kid Ink – Worth It (#13), Deorro & Chris Brown – Five More Hours (#23), Jason Dy – Caught In That Feeling (#30) and Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (#40).
The week's biggest gainers, include: Brandon Beal feat Christopher – Twerk It Like Miley (up 10 places, 18-8); Juan Karlos Labajo – Runaway Baby (up 9 spots, 28-19); Little Mix – Black Magic (up by 8 places, 17-9) and Owl City feat Aloe Blacc – Verge (gained 8 spots, 34-26).
Meanwhile, not so lucky this week is Nadine Lustre whose 2 songs belong to the biggest loser group, which include: Me And You (down 6 places, 10-16) and her duet with James Reid, Hanap Hanap (down 6 places, 16-22).
Also dropping 6 to 7 spots this week were songs from Jason Derulo, Carly Rae Jepsen and Bryan Termulo.
Jason DeRulo – Want To Want Me (dropped 7 places, 14-21)
Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You (down 7 places, 31-38)
Bryan Termulo – Erase Ka Na Sa Puso Ko (dropped 6 places, 26-32)
Also bad news for Tove Lo and 1D fans, their songs are out of the top 40 this week. Talking Body only managed to spend 3 weeks and peaked at #33 , while Stockholm Syndrome spent a total of 14 weeks and peaked at #12 (one of the few 1D singles not to crack the top 10).
Replacing the 2 songs are re-entries from The Vamps – Risk It All (#36) and Sia – Chandelier (#37). Which means there are zero new entries this week.
Here are the other noteworthy feats for the week.
Longest running songs in the chart:
Darren Espanto – In Love Ako Sa'Yo - 31 weeks
Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk - 30 weeks
Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do - 23 weeks
The top 5 OPM songs:
Kim Chiu – Mr. Right (7th week on top of all OPM acts)
Daryl Ong – Ikaw Na Nga
Maja Salvador – Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-Ibig
Darren Espanto – In Love Ako Sa'Yo
Nadine Lustre – Me And You
Artists with 2 entries in the top 40:
Charlie Puth, Darren Espanto and Nadine Lustre.
Wiz Khalifa feat Charlie Puth – See You Again
Charlie Puth feat Meghan Trainor – Marvin Gaye
Darren Espanto – In Love Ako Sa'Yo
Darren Espanto – Stuck
Nadine Lustre – Me And You
James Reid & Nadine Lustre – Hanap Hanap
